BOOM® by Cindy Joseph

Pro age cosmetics Boom by Cindy Joseph
All the cosmetics you need in three little sticks!

I have tried a lot of cosmetics and brands, from drugstore to luxury, looking for that one beauty routine or brand that I truly love. Some items I stick with because I really see the benefit but others I drop either right away or over time because the brand is too expensive for too little results.

When I first saw the advertising for BOOM® I thought it was too good to be true; all the cosmetics you need in three little sticks! But I liked the concept and the approach that Cindy Joseph was taking. Cindy was a make-up artist in the fashion and beauty industry for over 20 years and is now, at the age of 60, a professional model. BOOM products are formulated from her knowledge and experience of what ingredients are safe and effective versus ingredients that are “so-called natural” that merely add complexity and cost.

The idea of using minimal Pro-Age cosmetics made from organic ingredients that promote skin moisture and a fresh, natural look was appealing enough for me to order the BOOMStick trio and the BOOMSilk moisturizer and I have been using the products for about a month.

BOOMSilk is a moisturizer for face, neck and body. It is made from only six ingredients; honey, bee pollen, propolis (which is a resin gathered by bees from the bark of trees), beeswax, extra virgin olive oil and purified water.  The product information says the ingredients are harvested from bees in Hawaii.Boomsilk moisturizer

I read the reviews about it being oily and when I first opened it, I thought it was probably going to be a mistake and would lead to a break-out but I gave it a try. Following the advice of others, I used a small spatula to stir and remove the moisturizer from the jar. Because it doesn’t contain any emulsifiers, the oils may separate but you can use a small spatula to stir the product together. It also doesn’t contain and preservatives so using the spatula to remove a small amount from the jar will help keep the contents from contamination.

Trust me, you only need a very small amount on your face but the effect is nearly instantaneous. After only one use, my skin felt softer. Although it does feel oilier when you first put it on than other products I have tried, my face did not break-out. You really only need a very small amount and if you give it a few minutes to absorb into your skin, the oily feeling changes to one of silky softness. After a month of use, my skin is softer and smoother than it has ever been. So much so that I catch myself smoothing my fingers over my jawline and cheeks during the day. So far, BOOMSilk is a keeper.

BOOMSticks are three sticks that work on all skin tones and are the promoted as the only cosmetics you need to enhance your look without the “made-up” feeling.

BOOMStick Glo is a moisturizer, which is basically BOOMSilk with more beeswax, that you use around your eyes, lips and anywhere you want extra moisturizer. I have been using it under my eyes and around my lip line for that extra bit of moisture that I hope keeps the fine lines and wrinkles at bay. There are no miracles here but it does seem to make the lines less prominent, especially under my eyes.

BOOMStick Glimmer is a pearlescent shimmer that you can use on your eyelids, cheek bones and lips or wherever you want to add a bit of glimmer. I have been using it on my eyelids instead of eye shadow. It is a very subtle champagne color and I find it just enough color to wear every day. It doesn’t crease as I found many cream eye shadows tend to do but it does wear off over the course of the day. The stick however is handy to keep in your purse if you want to reapply.

BOOMStick Color is a stick of sheer color that you can use as a blush, a lipstick or an eyeshadow highlighter. Again, I was skeptical that one color could work for all skin tones and for so many different applications, but it’s brilliant. The color is very nature and sheer. I apply a small amount to each cheek bone, a little on my brow bone and also my lips. It blends really well with your skin and looks more like a happy glow than blush. As a lipstick, it has just enough color with a ton of moisturizer so it is more like a lip tint and lip balm than a lipstick.

Along with the three BOOMSticks, I use a small amount of cream foundation and a bit of mascara. That’s it; no concealer, no powder, no eyeshadow, no eye liner, no blush! I also haven’t used any of my make up brushes because you apply the BOOM products directly and blend in with your finger.

So far I am really impressed with these products. They are working, the price is reasonable and it is an approach to cosmetics that fits with my Simple is Best outlook.  There are a couple of other products available like BOOMNectar, which is a concentrated face serum, that I haven’t tried yet but the product line is very simplistic; in keeping with the overall approach.

If you have tried BOOM products, I would love to hear your experience.
